Reading Program

Elle LOVES to read. She keeps books around like you would keep tissues in all the convenient places. As you can imagine, that makes me happy, especially as a former first grade teacher.

So, when the librarian at her school told her class about the reading program that first and second graders could participate in, Elle was more than excited. Readers would be rewarded with either a certificate, medal, or trophy depending on the number of pages read.

The program began the afternoon of Christmas break and was over at the beginning of April. It was funny because you would think the first afternoon of Christmas break we would be doing non-school things like playing outside, but no...Elle insisted on getting started on her reading.

Elle ended up reading more than the 1,500 pages (2,196 pages to be exact) to earn a trophy. The award ceremony was this past Monday. She is very proud and excited about her first trophy.

I could only get a snapshot of her walking back to her class.
