Carroll and I had a child free weekend in Dallas last weekend thanks to his parents and our sister-in-law, Les. We had been talking for months about where we should go...Las Vegas, New York, Arizona were some of the places we thought about. Since we only had Thursday through Sunday, however, we chose Dallas. That would be so quick to and from Austin (the kids' base) that we would not have to spend two of our days traveling.
We had the best time. We stayed at the Anatole. We worked out, shopped, ate, and watched movies. Did you hear that?? I said we worked out and shopped...two things Carroll is NOT a fan of, but he enjoyed it because it was with me. We hit one of our favorite restaurants while there, The Cheesecake Factory. Darn that Orange Chicken and Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake!! We also discovered a new favorite restaurant called Mi Cocina. How I wish there was one here.
The kids, of course, had a blast at Ma and Pa's house...swimming, fun meals and activities. Piper and Cannon barely noticed that we were gone. Elle, on the other hand, cried just a bit when we left. But, she shook it off quickly and joined in the fun.
I don't have a single picture to show you because we were having so much fun. We will definitely have to make this a yearly thing as long as everyone is game.

YEA!! I love weekend getaways without the kids :)
good for you guys! why go out of state when TEXAS is so big and fantastic!?
WE were in Dallas last weekend, too! The Anatole is beautiful. And, Mi Cocina is one of my father-in-law's favorite restaurants ever!
How wonderful you two had this time away before the insanity known as "back-to-school" begins. Yay for you!
I'm so jealous- I cannot remember the last time Ronnie and I were able to get away by ourselves- think it was in 2003- seriously- a company trip to Hawaii- and we cut it short because Kathryn got sick at my parent's house in Houston and I didn't like being an ocean away. We had a quick date night last Friday to Dough, but we left, ate, and were back within 2 hours. Not long enough... Sounds like you and Carroll had a great time. Ready for school to start?
Sounds like a fun weekend! Elle & Davis should start a club! He had a twenty minute melt-down when we left for Jamaica. Aaaagggghhhhh!!! It sure didn't keep us from walking right out the door to head for a kidless weekend! :)
I'm trying to email you my response to your disney questions and the email is bouncing. Lemme know an address that works. :)
