Beautiful Garden

My sweet, hardworking husband has spent the last several weeks/weekends getting our garden ready.

I had forgotten how much is involved in just preparing for a garden. Carroll started by clearing out all the leaves and weeds and turning over the soil. He researched what to grow. We toured the local nursery getting ideas. He researched some more. He discovered the pH level of our soil wasn't right so he bought many, many bags of compost to mix in the soil. After deciding what to grow, he built trellises for those plants that would need the support. He extended the sprinklers to the garden area. He planted. And finally he mulched.

And now this weekend there is a threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms as well as a freeze. !Ay, caramba! (Pretend the exclamation point at the beginning is upside down.)

Things we are trying to grow: corn, strawberries, tomatoes, carrots, jalapenos (pretend an ~ is above the "n" in jalapenos), beans, onions, basil, and cantaloupe.
